Difficult Airway Society
Annual Scientific Meeting
Newport, Wales, UK
11th - 13th November 2026
Croeso, Welcome!
As the All Wales Airway Group, it is our absolute pleasure to host the DAS 2026 Annual Scientific Meeting. It has been a long time since 2012 when the DAS ASM last visited the Land of the Red Dragon, and we are looking forward to welcoming the meeting back.

2026 presents a unique opportunity to mark 30 years since the
first DAS meeting was held under the leadership of the late
Dr Ralph Vaughan, a Consultant Anaesthetist in Cardiff.

Alongside the legacy of individuals like Dr Vaughan, there is a
great heritage to be discovered in Wales.
It was the birthplace of the UKs National Health Service under
the leadership of Aneurin Bevan PC. It was the home of
pioneers in anaesthesia in the likes of Professor Bill Mapleson
and Professor William Mushin.
We invite you to join us to look together at where we have come from, to build on our shared heritage, and consider where we are hoping to go.
DAS Wales 2026 promises you a warm welcome, an exceptional scientific programme, and a local organising committee excited to showcase the best of Wales.
Our broader ambitions for DAS Wales 2026 include:
• Building connection and a sense of community
• Being the first DAS meeting with gender parity across our invited speakers
• Consideration of what has been and what is to come in the delivery of safe airway
management
• Celebrating the 30 Years of DAS
Join us in November 2026, come to Wales and escape the everyday.
Dr Thomas Kitchen
Chair of Local Organising Committee,
DAS Wales 2026
